We extended our franchise in Congo (DRC)
In 2018, we extended our franchise in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and setup 3NITY CONGO.
Most pressing issues in Congo (DRC)
In several Sub Sahara countries and particularly the DRC, commercial banks are seeking assets for pledging bank loans which makes it difficult for SMEs to access funding. At the same time; microfinance institutions can only afford providing loan for small amount limiting SME’s growth.
Our solution
We are piloting a factoring program “USAWA” that combines a convertible debt instrument using invoice discount technique and equity financing. It aims at purchasing invoices from SMEs (Seller) who supply goods or services to pre-qualified Buyers. In case of Seller default, USAWA will claim the outstanding invoice to the Buyers according to terms set forth in a factoring agreements. For companies having a growth potential, the short-term debt provided can be converted into equity.

Michel was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He started his career in Belgium in 1996 and relocated to Luxembourg in 2001 as Consultant at Arthur Andersen. As Partner, he headed the Investment Fund advisory practice at Kurt Salmon in Luxembourg until 2018 and then moved to Congo to set up the operations. He is a member of the Luxembourg Private Equity Association. He holds a Master degree in Finance from HEC Liege (Belgium).
Valere was born in Rwanda. He has over 25 years of professional experience. He served as Vice President at Brown Brother Harriman. He also contributed to the development of the Alternative Investment services at Deloitte Luxembourg as Director and then Managing Director, heading the Accounting and Reporting activities for Private Equity, Real Estate at Deloitte. He co-founded The Luxembourg Africa Investment Association (LuxAfrica) in 2014 and also co-founded EREVU, a Luxembourg investment vehicle investing in African startups. He holds an MBA from The Open University (UK).

The Maman Kaj Foundation, working for the well-being of orphans in Lubumbashi,
